“Rani Singh has reported on a freelance basis for The World Tonight on BBC R4 under my editorship.
We do not use many freelance reporters, but I have commissioned Rani on a number of occasions, because she has original ideas and has good contacts which yield interviews with people key to the stories she is pursuing, and she obtains permission to report from hard-to-access locations. For The World Tonight these have included an interview with the Bangladeshi Prime minister and reporting on Tibetan refugees in limbo in Nepal.

Rani clearly loves radio reporting and writes nicely, and we have invested in training her on the latest audio software and equipment to enhance her production skills.”
